Sunday 8th December - Lancashire

The next walk will be in Lancashire.
It is a 9 mile walk with 1400ft ascent.
The walk starts in Abbey Village and follows good gentle paths through wooded areas beside Roddlesworth reservoirs.
The ruins of Hollinshead Hall are worth visiting and the opportunity for a short tea break.
A moderate climb takes us up to the Jubilee Tower on Darwin Hill which on a clear day offers some good views.
You can climb the tower which I understand was a gesture of loyalty to Queen Victoria for her 60th year on the throne.
The return walk takes us past Earnsdale reservoir towards the wooded areas around Roddlesworth reservoirs where the walk started.

If time permits I hope to return to the area and check an alternative route near the end of the walk and also check out the pub.

Directions
Leave the M65 at junction 3 and take the A675 towards Belmont and Edgerton. As you go into Abbey Village there is parking on the road before you get to the Hare and Hounds pub (grid ref. SD643223) from where the walk starts. Alternatively the approximate post code is PR68DR.
I suggest we meet at the pub car park at 10:15 to allow for the shorter daylight hours.
