Sunday 4th February 2018 - North East Wales - Updated

The February walk will be on Sunday 4th February (usual 10am meet) in the North East Wales area, likely to take in part of the Offa’s Dyke and local paths above Prestatyn.

This area has been chosen because it is not that far to travel (most I guess within the hour) and the area is not that strenuous for walking.

The last two year’s February walks have encountered true winter conditions where crampons and ice axes have been required.

This February walk will be the surrounding hills above Prestatyn North Wales.

Meet at 10am at the Craig Fawr Car Park (SJ062800) - this is a small free Car Park just north of Dyserth.

Approximately 9/10 miles and around 1,800ft of ascent.

The walk will take in the summit of Craig Fawr, Prestatyn Hillside along the Offas Dyke, the Clwydian Way to Gop Hill, then through the village of Trelawnyd and back using the Offas Dyke path.

This walk will be muddy so please wear appropriate footwear.

Views will include the town of Prestatyn (very exciting) and Rhyl, the Great Orme, Snowdonia, the Wirral and the Denbigh Vale.

Following the walk, we can go to Frankies Farm Cafe in Dyserth or the New Inn pub.

If you intend to come along please let Karen or Malcolm know.
