Sunday 7th October - Malham Walk

There is a classic walk at Malham which I am sure most of the seasoned Dista group will have done at least in part. It has been on my list of walks to do for a long time and I would like to propose it for the October walk. I believe it is excellent walk so I hope those that know the walk do not mind visiting the area again. The walks starts in Malham from the National park car Park and takes in the small waterfall at Janets Foss, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn and Cove. It is just over 8mile and has a rise of about 250m. I will confirm a few more details before the walk. UPDATE 28th September The walks starts in Malham from the National park car Park and takes in the small waterfall at Janets Foss, Gordale Scar, Malham Tarn and Cove. It is just over 8 mile and has a rise of about 250m. The National Park car park (grid ref. SD 900627) is on the left as you enter the village There are nice clean toilets, an information centre and cafe. I did this walk last weekend with Andrew and he chose the route that climbed Gordale Scar waterfall. Although there was a fair bit of water we stayed dry and there were plenty of good dry hand holes. Part of the group may wish to do this route and meet up further along the main route. I also checked an alternative route that doesn’t involve the climbing the waterfall. The route was partly on road and led up to where the route from the top of Gordale Scar waterfall meets the road. I am reliably informed that there is another alternative direct route which involves no road. Aim to meet 10:15 in the car park.
