Date: Sunday 9th December 2012 (10am)
Location: North Wales, Clywds – The Alyn Gorge, Cilcain village, Moel Famau, return via Ffrith Mountain
Start: Loggerheads Country Park Centre (SJ 198626)
Car parking is Pay & Display
Distance: Approx 8 miles
Brief Description:
The walk sets out through woods along the Leet Path, passing Limestone Crags and old lead mines, then proceeds to Cilcain village. Through the village , proceed past Cilcain No 3 reservoir, then ascending the lower slopes of Moel Famau from the north-east. Continue to climb to the Jubilee Tower (hopefully good views from here!).
From the Jubilee Tower, descend along green paths contouring Ffrith Mountain, following signposts return to Loggerheads.
The walk is generally along green paths although there are unavoidable short sections of road walking (very quiet when I was last there)
The conditions several weeks ago were very muddy, especially along the lower fields / paths.
