12 miles, 1500 ft ascent.
Start point and time: 10:00 am from the National Park Car park in the centre of Dent village (£4.50 for parking). Best access route to Dent is from J37 of the M6, signposted via Sedbergh, turning right before entering Sedbergh. Routes from Ingleton are slow and one road was flooded during the recce.
Starting from Dent, route goes NW onto the Northern ridge of the valley. Turning East climbing over Aye Gill Pike, with views of the Howgills, Northern Pennies and the Three Peaks before descending towards Dent station and then either using the Dales Way or quiet valley roads to return to Dent.
Ground underfoot was wet (not particularly boggy) and some field paths very muddy. One challenging stile and dogs on leads for much of the valleys / low pastures.
If people could let me know if they are going andy.slee@amec.com, 07920134980 for contact on the day,
Thanks,
Andy
