The June walk will start at 1000 from the small farming hamlet of Sadgill at the end of the road in the Longsleddale Valley.
To get there take the A6 north from Kendal and in about 4/5 miles there is a left turn marked for Garnett Bridge.
Go through Garnett Bridge and continue for about 8 miles along the Longsleddale Valley.
Sadgill is at the end of the tarmac road and there is easily room for 6 cars if we park close together.
The map reference for Sadgill is 483056.
The walk is based on Wainwrights book 'The Far Eastern Fells'
From Sadgill we climb about 500 metres to Grey Crag. Then progress north over Tarn Crag until reaching Branstree..
Wainwright baggers can detour here to include Selside Pike but the main walk will come down from Branstree to the Gategarth Pass.
At this point there is a choice. If the weather is bad or you fancy an easier finish then you can follow the cart track down into Longsleddale and straight back to the cars.
If not there is an easy climb up Harter Fell and then proceed south over Kentmere Pike and Shipman Knotts before dropping down to Sadgill.
Please let me, Paul or Karen know if you intend coming.
See you there
Dave Pearcey
