Route: Snowden via the Pyg track
Starting point: 10am at the Pen-Y-Pas car park GR 647557 (not the cheapest car park but the facilities are good and you also park for free in nearby laybys if you are quick enough and don’t mind a walk to the start)
Contact: Iain or Jackie via email or Iain’s mobile on the day (07809746905)
Description: This was actually suggested by Shannon and seemed a good idea for no other reason than we haven’t done it recently. An excellent and popular route (though hopefully this time in Feb it may be a bit quieter). From the car park we ascend over Bwlch y Moch then follow the track high above Llyn Llydaw and latterly Glaslyn. A steeper final section takes us to the shoulder of the ridge to Snowden with a short climb to the summit following the railway track. The cafĂ© is, alas, closed in winter but in the good weather the views are fantstaic and a sprinkling of snow can make for a memorable day out. We return over the summit of Llewidd, descending on the far side of Llyn Llydaw and back to the car park on the miners track.
RSVP and see you there.
Iain and Jackie
