Walk Details

The walk distance is approximately 8 miles, 800m ascent / descent and 5 hours duration depending on stops.

The start location is approximately 3.8 miles North East of Llangollen in the village of Rhewl at Grid Reference 183449.

We’ll walk up to Moel y Faen then along to Moel y Gamelin and Moel Morfydd (3 tops) before dropping down through open countryside to the river Dee and back along to the start.

There is a nice pub in Rhewl for post walk refreshments.

Directions

There is room for about 6 cars on the left hand side of the road opposite the red brick chapel just before the village of Rhewl.

If approaching from Llangollen follow the A542 towards the Horseshoe Pass. Continue for about 1.3 miles turning left onto the B5103 signposted for Rhewl and Llantysilio. Continue straight for about 2.5 miles.

If approaching from the Horseshoe Pass, turn right approximately 1 mile after the Abbey Grange Pub (on the right hand side) onto the B5103 signposted for Rhewl and Llantysilio. Continue straight for about 2.5 miles.
