Saturday 1st August - Peak District - Rushup Edge and Cave Dale

Approx: 9 miles, 1250ft ascent / descent ~ 4-5 hrs
Start: 10:00 am

Park at the Windy Knoll car park (fee payable) below Mam Tor on the Chapel-en-le-Frith to Castleton Road (the old A625) ~ 100 yards further along the main road, on the left, after the Edale Road turns off. Grid reference 126 834. Note if travelling from the West that the A6 from Stockport to New Mills has long stretches of roadworks so extra time may be needed.
We’ll walk up along Rushup Edge before dropping down over the White Peak moors past Peak Forrest, then climb back up over the ex-mining areas of Oxlow Rake before dropping down the spectacular Cave Dale. We pass through Castleton and then return up the old Road underneath Mam Tor (the ‘Shaking Mountain’).
