Sunday 10th June 2018 - Hills and Lakes of the Eastern Carneddau

Meeting at Capel Curig junction of A5/A4086  at free car park behind Joe Brown's shop.(GR721.583) where there are facilities!

10am or earlier.

Advisable to car share as car park is not large and  fills up quickly.

The walk takes us to the hills and lakes of the Eastern Carneddau. About 8/9 miles with approx 1000+ft of ascent. With fantastic views of Moel Siabod, Tryfan, Snowdon, Pen yr ole Wen, and Carnedd Dafydd. Not to mention Nuttall bagging.

Crossing the road from The Pinnacles Cafe we make our way to Crimpiau, Craig Wen, Craig lwyd and Creigiau Gleision - eventually looking down on Llyn Cowlyd. We will descend to the dam at the northerly end of the lake and return to Capel Curig via the lakeside and the duckboard path.

In case of inclement weather (particularly heavy rain) it may be preferable to complete a shorter (about 4 hours), more straightforward walk beginning similarly but at the foot of Crimiau dropping down to Lyn Crafnant walking to the northerly end where there are picnic tables! and facilities! Thence returning via the other side of the lake and back to Capel Curig using the same path as the earlier descent.
