Saturday 7th July 2018 - Skiddaw

July's walk will take place on Saturday 7th July, when we will walk up Skiddaw which is England's 4th highest peak at 931 m.

The route I have chosen is about the easiest one I could find, and starts from the fell NORTH of Latrigg where there is a car park at the end of the lane east of Applethwaite village which is accessible off the A591 about 2 miles north of Keswick. (GR 253281, Outdoor Leisure OL4, English Lakes North West.)

This route involves about 2000 feet of ascent (all in the first half) walking north from the car park to take in the peak of Little Man en-route to Skiddaw's summit. The return has a couple of options depending on weather, but the one indicated on our route (see link below) descends from Carl Side into Slades Beck and thence down via Millbeck. The route is about 7 miles, and we plan to start the walk at about 10.00am.

I'm sending out the details early in case you want to consider booking an overnight stay on the Saturday night in the Keswick or Braithwaite area (as we intend to do)
If you would like to join us for this walk, please let me know either by E-mail [spreadbury [at] supanet.com] or by phone (07738 881987)

Thanks and best wishes
Alan
