Sunday 3rd February 2019 - Elidir Fach

Meet at 10am for a 10:15am departure
Carpark:- by the Electric Mountain visitor centre, Llanberis just off the A4086 - SH580601
Objective - Elidir Fach (795m above sea level)
Distance between 8 & 10 mile
Ascent approx 2,500ft
Drive is approximately 90 minutes

This walk takes us towards the Electric Mountain, however we do not enter the mountain we climb it!
We climb through the slate quarries that overlook Llyn Padarn, which happens to be part of the 'Paddy Buckley Round' route.

This section is full of interest, just as well as it is steep in places, but there is an option to miss this steep bit out, but this route will miss the summit..

We walk up a disused railway, pass miners cottages and take in great views.

We cross the Electric Mountain vent hole approach road, for the short ascent to Elidir Fach summit, highest point of the day and all the hard work done!

We take in the views of Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula, before we make our descent to the Electric Mountain reservoir (Marchlyn Mawr) approach road (we don't actually visit the reservoir).

We then pick up the fairly new Snowdonia Slate Trail, which takes us through the village of Dinorwig and then into Padarn Country Park.

If time permits we can walk around Padarn lake back to Llanberis.

Afterwards instead of a Cafe you are all invited to, 1 Bethesda Street for a cup of tea/coffee and cake. The cottage is a short walk from the car park.
