The February walk will be from Sedbergh on Saturday February 1st, starting at 10:00am.
Meet up in the car park on Loftus Hill. When you reach Sedbergh, turn sharp right to drop down the hill (don't drive straight on into Main Street). Straight on at the roundabout; the car park is on the left a short distance further on.
The 'what3words' reference is 'suddenly.reefs.additives'.
The walk is about 8.5 miles, has much local and historical interest and excellent views of the Howgills. We pass under the old railway line to reach Brigflatts, built in 1675 and the second oldest Quaker meeting house in the country, then use an old Roman road to reach Ingmire Hall (first built in the 1600's but this version is the 20th Century one!). We then make our way via Lincoln's Inn Bridge and Hawkrigg Wood to the top of Firbank Fell and then on to Fox's Pulpit, a rocky outcrop where George Fox spoke to the good folk of Sedbergh in June 1652 (regarded as the beginning of Quakerism). We descend to the Lune and return via farmland and the quiet narrow Howgill Lane.
Please let me know whether you are coming along. (tonyjb27[at]icloud.com)
Cheers,
Tony
