The July walk will be on Saturday July 2 starting at 1000.
Starting point will be the Ball Grove Recreational area and car park in Colne
Post code is BB8 7HY and grid ref of 908403.
Take the M65 to its end then follow the A 6068 signed for Keighley. Soon after a big roundabout on leaving Colne there is a right turn signed for Ball Grove and the Lakeside Cafe.
The walk goes through the hamlet of Wycoller where there are considerable ruins of Wycoller Hall reckoned to be the basis of Ferndean Manor in Jane Eyre where the hero Mr Rochester lived.
Wycoller is in fact only 7-8 miles from Howarth across the Pennine Moors.
From there we follow the Bronte/Pendle way on open moorland and return via the attractive village of Trawden where the Library, Shop and Pub have been taken over by the community.
The basic walk is about 9 miles . It undulates but no major climbs.
For those who fancy something extra Boulsworth Hill at 517 m has tremendous views in all directions. It adds about 1 mile and a bit over 200m of ascent.
The group can split into two at this point and meet again at tea/coffee stop in Trawden.
