Sunday 6th August 2023 - Sandstone trail to Pale Heights

I propose Sunday 6th August.  Meetup 10am for a 10.30am start.  We can start from our place and take variations on the Sandstone trail to Pale Heights ("the aerials"), about 2 hours. Then a nice stop if the weather is fine.  Then traverse westwards to the top of the Yeld, about 40 minutes, then follow a footpath through farmland towards Kelsall.  Reaching the outskirts of Kelsall we track further west before taking a path northwards mainly on the Eddisbury trail crossing farmland and woods to bring us back to Manley common and home chez Gann, about another two hours.

Thus I think there are about four and a half hours walking, about 8 or 9 miles with a reasonable amount of up and down of which the longest is the grind up to the aerials.

Although we have led walks in this area before most of this route is novel.  (The less trodden paths of Delamere Forest to start!)

We thought we could finish up at our place for tea and cakes though I thought we might add hot dogs, even some beers to this.  Any members not walking would be welcome to the refreshments at the end - obviously thinking of George and Joan.

Regards,

Mike
