Meet at the long stay car park at Betws-y-Coed in Wales at 10am (cost of the car park is £6.00 for the day). What three words location “asks.decoded.hatch”
The walk commences from the rear of the church and is quite steep for the first 850 metres or so. The distance is around 7.5 miles to 8 miles with a total ascent of 1511 feet and descent of 1542 feet. The highest point being 827 feet. We will stop at the monument overlooking the reservoir Llyn Elsi. Then either visit the coffee shop or pub on our journey back.
Directions from the Runcorn area:
Drive down the A55 until you reach junction 19. Follow the A470 through Llanrwst, heading South. As you approach Betws-y-Coed turn right over a bridge onto the A5. After about a quarter of a mile or so you will see the entrance to the car park on your right. Drive past the miniature railway building for about 100 metres and then turn left to park up. There was a problem with the ticket machine at the entrance to the car park when I completed the recce, but the machine at the far end near the information centre was working. Payment is by contactless card.
Looking forward to seeing you on the walk.
Dave
