This walk of about 11 miles includes valley and moorland walking. It starts in Dentdale (just east of Dent village) then heads across to the Craven Wold, an ancient packhorse route, passing along the flank of Whernside, towards the Settle-Carlisle railway line, built in the late 1870's. We then head across open moorland above the Blea Moor railway tunnel before dropping down to a quiet road alongside the River Dee to follow the Dales Way back to the starting point.
Park at the Ibbeth Peril caves (grid reference SD741865; postcode LA10 5TG (approx. location)) on the road from Dent (south-east of Sedbergh) to Lea Yeat.
Aim to start at 10:00 a.m.
