Time: Aim to start at 10am
Starting point: GR 866912 – Hardraw, 1 mile north of Hawes; parking on the roadside at the west end of the village.
This is a 12 mile circuit, with an ascent of about 600 metres, starting at Hardraw and heading north along the Pennine Way to Great Shunner Fell. From there we drop south-east to visit the Butter Tubs, deep, vertical-sided potholes cut through the limestone. We cross the valley road to climb to the summit of Lovely Seat, with continuing views of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. Finally, we head south, wending our way off the hill towards Hardraw and a well-deserved drink.
