Alport Castles is a spectacular natural feature in the Northern Peak area which is above a long and lovely glen.
After climbing steeply through the forests of the neighbouring Derwent Valley, there is a grand, scenic walk out across the airy tops of Rowlee Pasture. The return falls along the picturesque valley to the river Ashop before climbing once more over the intervening shoulder back into Derwent.
