The October walk starts from, Oak Tree House, New Pale Road, Manley WA6 9EP.
Some sat navs take you down Dark Ark Lane which is wrong! We are just off the cross roads formed by a sharp bend in the B5393 half way between Alvanley and Ashton. If coming from Alvanley turn left into New Pale Road and we are 100 m down on the right. If coming from Ashton, pause at the brow of the hill and cross over into New Pale Road. GR OS Explorer 257, 515718.
10 am start
The walk is an undulating trail round the perimeter of Delamere Forest with a detour mid-way following the Sandstone Trail to Pale Heights (height 176 m) before dropping back to the newly enlarged visitor centre. Refreshments could be purchased there or there is shelter to eat sandwiches by the old cafe close by. We then pass the Go Ape facility and past Blakemere Moss to continue the anticlockwise circumnavigation of the forest.
We can make a small detour to the new Forest Holidays complex where the cafe serves good coffee and cakes but we will only be a couple of miles from home and more coffee or tea and cake.
Distance is 8 or 9 miles and height gain and loss can't be more than a couple of hundred metres.
Hope to see you all there.
